Folder permissions
SoonNot built. There are no folders in the vault and no per-folder access control.
- ✓No folders, no per-folder permissions, no inherited ACLs — none of it exists
- ✓Matters group related documents and work
- ✓Free-text tags on contracts
- ✓Saved views — stored filters over the vault, not folders
What it is.
The vault has no folder concept — no folder table, no folder on a contract, and therefore no per-folder access-control list. This page used to describe one. It was wrong.
What organises documents today is matters (group a deal or a dispute's contracts, research and obligations together) and free-text tags. What controls access is organisation-level role permissions, which are per capability rather than per document set — see Roles and permissions.
Three steps.
End to end.
There are no folders and no folder ACLs.
A matter collects the documents, redline sessions, obligations, meetings and tasks for one piece of work.
Permissions are granted per capability to a role, across the organisation.
What you get.
- ✓No folders, no per-folder permissions, no inherited ACLs — none of it exists
- ✓Matters group related documents and work
- ✓Free-text tags on contracts
- ✓Saved views — stored filters over the vault, not folders
- ✓Role-based permissions applied organisation-wide, not per document set
Quick answers.
You cannot, at document level, today. Permissions are per capability across the organisation rather than per folder or per matter. If that is a requirement, tell us — it is a real gap and worth knowing that it is one.
