Citation verification

Live

Every citation comes back with a verdict — verified, ambiguous or unresolved — and a match on title alone is never verified.

What you get
  • Three verdicts on every citation — verified, ambiguous, unresolved — never a bare link
  • Quoted clauses confirmed by containment against your own documents, with the page and surrounding text
  • Similarity matching is deliberately not used to verify a quotation
  • A match on title alone caps at ambiguous, however close the title

Overview

What it is.

A citation that looks professionally formatted is not necessarily correct, so every source LexVio cites is resolved before you rely on it and the answer is one of three words. Verified means the source itself was checked and contains what was cited. Ambiguous means something by that name was found but nothing confirms the substance of the claim — a lead, not a source. Unresolved means nothing matched, which is not the same as wrong.

Your own record is the corpus that can be checked anywhere, so that is where citations resolve: your executed contracts, prior matters and playbook. A quoted clause is confirmed by containment — the words are in your document or they are not — and deliberately never by similarity, because similarity lets an invented clause verify against a genuine one on the same subject. LexVio holds no case-law or statute corpus for the jurisdictions this product serves; when a citation cannot be resolved it says so and sends you to the official source rather than dressing a near-match up as a confirmation.

How it works

Three steps.
End to end.

01
1. Ask, and get sources back

Citations render as chips on the answer. Resolving one is a single indexed lookup — no second model call, no embedding round-trip.

02
2. The source is checked, not resembled

A quotation is matched by containment against the text of your own documents and returns the document, the page and the surrounding context. A reference to a document by name is matched on title only, and is labelled as such.

03
3. Read the verdict and the reason

Verified, ambiguous or unresolved, with a plain-English caution whenever it is not verified. A document existing under that name caps the verdict at ambiguous.

What you get.

  • A plain-English reason accompanies every verdict that is not verified
  • Verdicts are recorded, so what you were shown at the time you relied on it stays on the record
  • No plan gate — it runs on every answer, on every account
FAQ

Quick answers.

Does "unresolved" mean the citation is false?

No. It means nothing we could check matched it — a document may simply never have been uploaded. The verdict is a statement about what could be checked, not about the citation's truth.

Can a case or a statute come back verified?

Not from us. LexVio holds no case-law or statute corpus for the jurisdictions this product serves, and rather than return a near-match it says so and points you at the official source. A citation to a document in your own vault can be verified, because the source itself is there to check.

Why isn't a title match enough?

Because a document by that name existing is not that document saying what was claimed. Treating the two as equivalent is precisely how a fabricated citation comes to rest on a real source.
